The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, defended the protest of the
Tirana Municipality in front of the Administrative Court, considering it
very normal in a democratic country.

“The people who have taken hostage the justie reform are angry with the protest held by the Municipality. Someone must tell them the numerous manifestations governors and mayors in the US hold in front of courts”,Rama said.

Earlier, during the plenary session, former Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, said that he asked the Democratic Party to demand the firing of Mayor Veliaj, for pressuring judges.

Veliaj protested for changing the judge panel that is treating the case of a new apartment building at the Tirana Lake, claiming that the judges have family relations to the builders of the construction.

“These are judges appointed by the President especially for this trial, a judge panel that is full of their relatives. One of these judges ahs been ordered to reject our request for changing the judge panel”, Veliaj said.
