Rainy “Summer Day” in Elbasan

Despite the rainy weather, people from Elbasan and other cities
celebrated the Summer Day, a pagan holiday that honours the start of
another season.

The celebrations started this Wednesday with a concert organized by the municipalities and continued this Thursday with various activities.

Same as in the other days, Elbasan was visited by politicians from both political sides that followed the celebrations.

Accompanied by his wife, the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, was invited by the Mayor of Elbasan in the Business Fair. Rama declared that the rain that accompanied this Summer Day, which happens rarely, will bring more profits to the Albanian citizens, but the real revival will come after June 23rd.

“I believe that all of those who are waiting today for June 23rd, they feel and touch whatever comes after this rain with the force of imagination: a revival for the economy, the society and our country, which this summer will enter in the right path”, Rama declared.

The Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, and the Minister of Economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, reminded the work made by the government to facilitate the business conditions. Topalli says that after the construction of the Tirana-Elbasan road, the business of this city will be much better.

“After the construction of the Tirana-Elbasan tunnel, the next year there will be a bigger number of businesses”, Topalli declared.

The Parliament Speaker, accompanied by the vice Parliament Speaker, Ardian Turku; the Minister of Economy; the Minister of Defence and MPs from the area, visited the Summer Day Fair that put on display the resources offered by the Elbasan District.
