The Tirana Prosecutor’s Office decided not to start investigations on the denunciation of a woman who claimed to have given birth to two twins, but only the daughter was given to her.
Enkela Hodo presented herself to the police four years after she became a mother, and based on her memory, she asked for investigations based on her memory because according to her, she had given birth to twins and had also heard the cries of another baby.
The prosecutor of the case says that the mother’s position is unsupported by a medical report, so the case is closed.
The 44-year-old has challenged this decision in the criminal court and believes that there is room for investigation and that the judicial body should order the prosecution to carry out additional actions.
But in the dossier it appears that the prosecution also interrogated the complainant’s husband, who clarified that after they had done an ultrasound examination in 2019, they had not clarified how many children they were expecting. “For the last six months of the pregnancy, my wife insisted that she had twins,” testifies the man.
The prosecution responds by saying that when the mother left the gynecological hospital, she was given a discharge note and there were no claims. It is further stated in the decision that the prosecution is a structure that conducts investigations on facts that have occurred and not on facts that are suspected to have occurred.
