The Prosecution of Serious Crimes demanded the seizing of a building
planned to become a tourist resort near the “Uji I Ftohte” area of
Vlore, owned by Shpetim Brahimaj, father of Isuf Brahimaj, who was
killed by a remotely controlled bomb in August 2014.
The motive of this request are suspicions that the five-store building was built with the money of the criminal activity of his son. Isuf Brahimaj was already sentenced by Italian and Dutch authorities before he was killed possibly for drug-related conflicts.
The written property sale was 120.000 EUR, but the Prosecution suspects that the total real payment was 700.000 EUR, and Brahimaj had no real chances to pay for such an investment. The Vlore Prosecution ordered to seize the land, which was accepted by the Vlore court. The case was then passed to the Prosecution of Serious Crimes, which is responsible for the implementation of the “Antimafia” law.
The Court of Serious Crimes issued the preventive seizing order, based on the request of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes.
