The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, visited Manastir (Bitola, Macedonia) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Congress of Manastir.
The President was received by Albanians in Macedonia and by the Culture Minister, Asaf Ademi.
The President visited the museum-house where the Congress of Manastir was held, and distributed 110 ABC books for the Albanian children in the city.
The Congress of Manastir was an academic conference held in 1908, with the goal of standardizing the Albanian alphabet.
November 22 is now a commemorative day in Albania, Kosovo, and the Republic of Macedonia, as well as among the Albanian diaspora, known as Alphabet Day.
