President: Albania doesn’t need this politics

The Albanian President appealed the big political parties and their
leadership to find the force and ability to forget the personal
political interests and join the energies that serve to the real
integration reforms.

In his message for the progress-report of the European Commission, the Albanian President underlines that the doors of the European Union are open, but it is up to the Albanian politics to make a deep moral reflection for winning back the time that has been lost, or for not becoming an integration obstacle.

“My public appeal is that the political forces, instead of finding alibis and partial arguments against the respective opponents, should focus on a new dialogue environment and serious cooperation, for keeping the promise that was given this Wednesday for turning the EU report into an agenda of their political activity”, says the message of the President.

The President also underlies that it is needed a functional and productive Parliament; intensive cooperation for issues of wide public interest; a more transparent governing and service to the citizens, concrete actions against corruption and power abuse, economic stability and a real trust climate for guaranteeing the free economic competition and for securing more foreign investments in Albania.

“The political good will among parties and the Parliament functionality are connected with Albania’s great need for legal reforms in the justice system, in the public administration sector, war against corruption and a real guarantee of the constitutional principle of sharing and balancing power. I also appeal the leaders of constitutional institutions to create the right climate and trust for avoiding these problems in the months to come”, the President added.

The head of the Albanian state reminded the declarations that both political parties released one day ago, saying that they accepted the report and are ready to reflect on its problematic.

“I heard that the political parties did not admit any concrete responsibility, but as usually, they blamed the adversaries for the lost integration chance. As President and as a citizen of Albania, I refuse this practice. This is what Albania doesn’t need for its democracy and integration. This is what has made the Albanian citizens feel unjustly penalized. Albania needs a new political vision for responsible politics, far from the personal rhetoric and propaganda that do not resolve anything, but only delay the end of the transition and our integration chances”, the President declared.
