Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was today in North Macedonia where he started a tour to promote and prepare for the summit of the Berlin Initiative for the Western Balkans, which will be held in October in Tirana.

Top Channel’s Muhamed Veliu, who is following this tour, reported that after a face-to-face meeting andthen with the delegations, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski and Prime Minister Edi Rama at the joint press conference agreed on the need to maximize the benefits economic through the projects envisaged in the Berlin Initiative.

“The Berlin process is important for the region not only because of the agreements I highlighted, but also because of the initiatives related to energy, economy, digitalization, infrastructure, and the exchange of experiences between countries,” said Macedonian Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski.

Rama stated: “And what harm has come to the region from the Open Balkans?” On the contrary, it has also served the Berlin process, which is the ‘umbrella’ and on which I must focus 100% since Albania is the host of the Berlin Process. We must immerse ourselves with our minds and hearts in the Berlin Process to turn the Berlin Process into a functional process, completely as was the Open Balkans that proved that we can be functional when we are together”, said Rama.

Regarding the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Kurti, Rama added: “I still have hope that Albin has not forgotten the old Albanian canon, that when someone comes to your house the door is always opened for him and it is forbidden to let him out until he finishes speaking”.

Rama added that in the conditions where peace in the Balkans is fragile, which is also evidenced by the situation in the north of Kosovo, increasing the EU’s attention to the region through Berlin’s initiative, turns into an absolute necessity.
