Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama answered today the questions regarding the implication of his former minister Arben Ahmetaj in the corruption scandal with the incinerators.

Ahmetaj was paid for his trips by Klodian Zoto, now wanted by the justice for the notorious incinerators issue.

Leader of the ruling socialists Rama, tried to distance himself from the minister’s actions, saying that everyone bears personal responsibility.

Question: Do you condemn a minister who has his hotel bills paid?

PM Rama: Yes, because this is the habit for which the voice should be raised.

Many things appear in the media but we are not in the habit of speaking out even for people who are in the SP or against it. I take everything that is said with great reserve.

Question: Have you spoken with Mr. Ahmetaj to know his truth?

“These are individual truths, the incinerators are three works in Fier, Elbasan and Tirana for which I would say that they should be done.

They are for the service of communities. If someone plucks pears and apples to put in his basket behind my back, they have no business with me, but with justice. I do not comment on pieces of data that are to be investigated and judged. When they are investigated and judged, then I will speak again”, Rama stated.

For the minsiter’s hotel payments in question, a lawsuit has been filed in the prosecutor’s office, which includes former minister Ahmetaj and the two prosecutors in the incinerators issue, Klodian Braho and Ened Nakuçi.

Asked by the media about the accusations made by the journalist, prosecutor Braho said that he could not comment on the report, while he made it clear that the file was still under investigation and that he could not provide new details.
