Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama was in Hungary today where he was received by his counterpart Viktor Orban.

Rama stated that he feels honored for the reception that Orban reserved him. “It’s probably easier to blame Orban for what happens in the world, but for me he’s a nice person,” said Rama, among other things.

“It is a pleasure to be here and I have the pleasure to express my deep gratitude from the heart for what the presidency of Hungary, i.e. the Presidency of the Council of the EU, has done for us, encouraging, coordinating and making possible the opportunity to open a large part of the negotiations of Albania with the European Union. In this way, we will enter a stage of integration which is really advanced.

“Of course, it is the place and the moment to also thank someone else who is not part of the Hungarian government, but who is part of the European government, Oliver Varhelyi, the Hungarian EU Commissioner who has accompanied the development of Albania for 5 years, and was key and decisive for many of our achievements with the EU, and also in the multilateral aspect, that is, with us in the Balkans region,” Rama further stated.
