In a joint press conference with Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Prime
Minister Edi Rama underlined that today’s meeting confirmed the mutual
commitment of Albania and the European Commission for progress towards
the next station, which is the opening of the negotiations.

“We underlined the reforms that fulfill the five key priorities for opening the negotiations and we reconfirmed the will to continue with the reforms. We confirmed our commitment for the justice reform, as a key reform for opening the negotiations, but also to start a decent justice system for a country that aspires to become EU member. We confirmed the will for dialogue with the opposition at the reform commission, which cannot be conditioned by the daily politics”, Rama said.

The government leader added that the high-level dialogue is a model bridge that creates the right conditions for the Albanian side to act like a unified party for a major purpose, which is integration. “Based on the positive high-level dialogue, it is not senseless to invite the DP to dialogue without our friends and listen the DP carefully. There is a chance to treat our disagreements with a civilized way. The language of conditions and threats is a free right of any party, but we need to sit and discuss”, Rama said.
