PM Edi Rama received Légion d’Honneur title by French President

The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, received the Légion d’Honneur Commander, the highest order of decoration in France.

“I am very honored to receive this title from the French President. Thank you, France”, Rama wrote on Twitter.

During his visit in Paris, the Albanian and French governments signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements.

Both countries confirmed their special relation and reiterated the importance of a long-term cooperation for the rule of law, security and defense, on a bilateral and regional level.

Prime Minister Cazeneuve valued Albania’s progress and its reforms with the rule of law; the successful efforts with the fight against corruption and organized crime, and thanked the Albanian government for cooperating with French authorities in the fight against terror and violent extremism.

The implementation of the judiciary reform was seen as extremely important for increasing the credibility of judiciary institutions, and also for its impact in the rule of law and national economy.

France also emphasized the significance of Albania’s role for preserving democratic stability in the Balkan region.

After the meeting, Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati and French Ministers Fekl, Desir and Todeschini, signed a strategic partnership agreement between two countries and also other cooperation agreements regarding defense and security.
