The Prosecution of Serious Crimes concluded investigations and sent to
trial six out of 14 suspects of a criminal group operating between
Albania and Italy, trafficking 128 kg of marijuana from Kocul, Vlore.

The criminal episode took place one year ago by authorities from both countries. Ahmetaj and Lamaj were cultivating drug and transporting it to Italy. The Prosecution of Serious Crimes says the police officers suspected as part of the group, Vladimir Zanaj, would be tried only for power abuse, since it was not verified if he had collaborated with the group.

The Prosecution says that Zanaj was cousin of the two suspects and he abused with his power as long as he had information about their criminal activity. The investigations show that the Lamaj family had a small Ukrainian airplane on which the Italian authorities had placed a GPS.

Investigations showed that Sokol lamaj and his brothers owned parcels of Marijuana in Albania and the airplane was to be piloted by Vilson Lamaj. Sokol Lamaj worked with the cultivation, while his brother was waiting in Italy for orders before using the plane.
