This Thursday’s plenary session in the Albanian Parliament did not last more than 20 minutes as was suspended amid chaos and fireworks.
The opposition MPs, following their protest, again gathered the Assembly chairs in the rostrum and lit their flares in order to block the session.
The opposition says that it is determined not to allow a normal parliamentary life until its demands are met: the establishment of investigative commissions, involvement in the electoral reform commission and for the majority to give up involvement in the internal developments of the opposition.
The MPs also lit flares in the hall and were involved in heated debates among themselves, while Speaker Nikolla, led the session amidst the noise of chairs and tables falling.
While the chaos continued, Berisha broadcasted live on Facebook, accusing the majority of corrupsion.
Among other things, Berisha said: “Again today, civil disobedience continues, our peaceful protest of opposition parliamentarians with denied constitutional rights. For 18 months, by order of PM Edi Rama, this parliament does not allow the establishment of Investigative Commissions, which is contrary to the Albanian Constitution.
“Edi Rama cannot accept these commissions because they will first reveal the corruption in his family members who have rushed after tenders and public assets. PM Edi Rama cannot accept these commissions because he is heavily incriminated and behaves like the head of a criminal organization owning the country. There is no way he accepts commissions for the Port of Durrës or for ‘strategic investors,’ because among them are Pëllumb Gjoka, MPs and other ministers here, including Olta Xhaçka, among them are traffickers. Rama uses the law of ‘strategic investments’ to hide billions of euros offshore.”
