The Assembly approved today the recommendation of the report on the issue of dismissal of President Meta.

With 78 votes in favor, the parliament decided not to dismiss the President, in accordance with the findings and the report presented earlier by Ulsi Manja saying that President Meta’s violations are not as serious as to instigate dismissal.

17 votes were against and 8 abstentions.

The story of a year’s of debate closed today with the recommendation to make an organic law for the institution of the head of state.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said in the Assembly that the majority will initiate an initiative for an organic law for the institution of the President, in order for this institution not to “incite conflict”.

“It is time for the Assembly to give the clarifications for formal and substantial competencies, an organic law for the President, which includes provisions for not blocking electoral processes, to avoid scandalous precedents and simplify the provisions for the appointment of court members.

“It can no longer happen that the president refuses to decree ministers. Everything should be addressed, not to Ilir Meta, but to the institution of the president, which today is strangled and used as an instrument to make party politics, to incite conflict or nurture conflict. “We have a president with Moon tempers, whenever the Moon rotates in the right direction he cooperates, as in the case of COVID pandemic when he was available to cooperate,” he said.
