The Albanian Parliament approved today by a majority of votes a series of changes in the electoral code, which the extra-parliamentary opposition and some parliamentary factions called an anti-constitutional farce.

The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha has stated that today’s act is unconstitutional and destroys the consensus of June 5th, severely hitting the European integration of the country.

“Today’s unconstitutional act destroys the consensus of June 5 and severely hits the country’s European integration. (PM) Rama took his last downhill step. But he will not be able to take Albania and the Albanians with him. Nothing can save him from the loss and punishment that awaits him!”, writes Basha.

MP Rudina Hajdari during her speech outside the Assembly, spoke harshly against the majority that approved the changes in the Assembly, stating that she tried by all means to prevent the adoption of the new Electoral Code, calling it a farce.

“You saw that I blocked the rostrum because I expressed the revolt that Albanians have today. (PM) Rama was the one who made the promise to restore sovereignty to the people by opening the lists. He did not do that, but put the interests of a group of people above the interests of Albanians. He managed to put the interests of the people he mentioned above the interests of the Albanians”, stated Hajdari.
