Panariti: There is no memo

The head of the Albanian diplomacy, Edmond Panariti, denies that the USA
has sent a memo to the government of Tirana in which they ask them to
stop the nationalist rhetoric. Panariti declared for Top Channel that
there is no official document and that the answer is definitive.

For the opposition, the content of this document is very grave for a country like Albania, when it comes from a strategic partner like the USA.

“The primitive nationalism of the Prime Minister is concerning and incites trouble. Berisha’s nationalism is similar to that of Milosevic in the 90s, who created bloodshed in the entire region. The US appeal is that of a strategic partner who says that the EU path goes through reforms which  improve the citizens’ life, and not the nationalistic rhetoric for a bunch of votes”, Bushati declared.

This memo orients the government to focus on the inner problems, such as the organization of free and honest elections, the challenges of the rule of law and local economy. For the Vice Chairman at the Integration Commission, Ditmir Bushati, this shows that the government has failed in these areas.

According to him, this is the reason that drives the Albanian government leader to intensify the nationalist tones that will cost the country.
