Despite the public appeals from the police, who asked the citizens to be
careful during the New Year’s celebrations, 2013 took lives in its
first hours.
A 23-year-old biker died after crashing with a car in Tirana. Police said that the cause of the accident was the excessive speed.
While all the accidents in Tirana were caused on the road, in many other areas people have used firearms instead of fireworks, causing one death in Kruje, where a young man was celebrating with his relatives.
Two other people were injured in Durres and Fushe-Kruje.
Another accident almost ended up tragically in Linze, where the ceiling of a building collapsed in a Linze Bar. Four persons were injured, and one of them was a child. The injured are outside life-threatening danger.
