One Albanian casualty among Italian earthquake victims

The Albanian Ambassador to Rome, Anila Bitri, gave a live phone interview for Top Channel during the main news edition.

TCH: Mrs. Ambassador, do you have information for any Albanian affected by the earthquake?

Ambassador Anila Bitri: I am in Amatrice together with my staff. This is the mostly damaged city by the earthquake. It is one of the strongest earthquakes in Italy for the past years, after the one in the ‘80s. The closer you get to the city, the more it seems like a ghost town. It is completely ruined. We have a community of 50 people here. One is dead and seven are injured. They are hospitalized in Rome and other cities. Residents are living in tents. Some Albanian families found shelter to their neighbors. We have seen a marvelous show of solidarity from Italians who helped Albanians here in Amatrice. Other Albanians have arrived from Roem to help Italians. There are Albanian fathers going to help Italians in the ruins, while mothers donate blood.

TCH: Mrs. Ambassador, you said there is an Albanian victim. Do we have any name?

Anila Bitri: We have worked closely with the Italian authorities. The victim is a 32-year-old father from Roskovec.
