Ombudsman writes to Greek counterpart regarding death of Albanian citizen

Ombudsman Igli Totozani sent an official letter to his Greek
counterpart, Andreas Pottakis, urging him to investigate the death of
Pellumb Marknikollaj in a Greek police precinct.

“On behalf of the victim’s relatives and the Albanian Public Opinion, I am asking you to follow this case also as part of your competences, as the national mechanism to prevent torture”, Totozani wrote.

The Ombudsman sent another official letter to the Albanian Foreign Ministry, asking detailed information on the steps followed by them regarding this case.

29-year-old Pellumb Marknikollaj has died in the Greek police precinct of Kato Patisia, Athens.
