Olive harvesting has started a few days ago in the district of Berat. The difference from previous years this year seems to be the larger production, this is due to the favorable climate cinditions.
In Roshnik farmers say that the production is high but they have a problem with the sales market. Even their price has dropped because there a big produce of olives.
The olives that are currently being harvested are table olives, which last year were sold at 100 lek / kg while this year they are not sold for more than 50 lek / kg, a price which according to the producers does not justify the costs.
