Oil workers on hunger strike cut off external contacts: We will leave here only on a stretcher

The hunger strikers in Ballsh have cut off all contact with the outside of the premises where they are stationed.

The extreme decision was taken by the oil workers, as they state, after the negligence shown by the state authorities and the directors of the Azerbaijani company that owns the refinery.

Today the strikers did not allow the medical team and the ambulance to perform their health checks. As of this morning, the strikers have also cut off contacts with the media.

Sokol Dautaj, chairman of the oil workers’ union, a member of the hunger strike, says they will not back down from the extreme decision until a solution is found.

According to him, the strikers hopeful from the promise of Prime Minister Rama. If no solution is found even after this promise, the oil workers trapped in the hunger strike threaten to leave the strike premises only “on a stretcher”.
For 11 days, 10 oil workers have been on hunger strike for the unpaid salaries of about 900 workers, also demanding the resumption of work.
