Electric personal scooters are the newest trend of transportation in our country and the world, which seems to avoid the traffic and even the high price of fuel for the users.
However recently there have been more complaints that scooters have become a source of accidents, since most of their users are minors or people without a driving license, who do not know the road code and its signage.
Fiks Fare conducted an observation on the streets of Tirana, where there were cases of scooter drivers passing with red lights, or going fast on the sidewalks and boulevards.
Pedestrians also say that it is a daily problem and ask for measures to be taken to prevent them.
“Fiks Fare” interviewed the head of Tirana’s Road Traffic, Gerhard Baka, during his patrol duty, who admitted that skateboarders do not respect the signs.
“These drivers must be careful, as they are a dangerous source of accidents. The police, even though they do not have access to fines for these drivers, call on each of them to protect themselves and the lives of others”, says the head of traffic.
He shows that there are more cases of skateboards circulating on interurban roads and highways, which are also prohibited for mopeds.
The Traffic Code does not provide for the punishment of violations caused by these electric vehicles, and as a result, there is no legal basis for the traffic police to impose measures, therefore only counseling is currently done.
