Mond Çekiçi, a known member of the former ‘Durrës gang’, was killed today in an ambush behind the Education Directorate in Durrës, inside his car.
The executors are reported to have been wearing military clothes, while the police announces that in Sukth near Durres, a “Benz” type vehicle was found burnt, with stolen license plates, which is suspected to have been used by the perpetrators.
The serious incident happened around 08:40 in the morning, while the police have set up checkpoints on all road axes at the entrance and exit of Durrës as well as in the direction of Tirana and Kavaja.
Businessman Mond Çekiçi was executed by a barrage of bullets in his car while his personal driver who was with him, was not injured and is giving his testimony to the police.
Top Channel learns that near the crime scene the victim had built a 3-storey building, near the Education Directorate.
Edmond Koçi known as “Mond Çekiçi”, is considered by the Durrës Police as a dangerous person, as not only was he an integral part of a criminal clan in Durrës, but has been convicted several times on charges of illegal possession of weapons and opposition to police forces.
“Mond Çekiçi” was associated with other notorious names of crime in the city such as Emiliano Shullazi “Mili”, Plarent Dervishaj “Lenti”, Marjel Fierza, Julian Meçaj, Bashkim Haxhiaj and others.
