Nomination for president from ruling SP is army general Bajram Begaj

General Chief of Staff of the army, Bajram Begaj, may be the successor of Ilir Meta as president of Albania for the next five years, as announced today by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

The senior military officer, graduated in medicine, who today was nominated by the Socialist Party as candidate for President, a few days ago paid his first visit to the Pentagon where he met with senior officials, including the General Chief of Staff Mark A. Milley.

Later in an interview with VOA, General Begaj said that during the meeting with General Mark Milley, they discussed cooperation between the two countries and the war in Ukraine.

Major General Bajram Begaj was born on March 20, 1967, in Rrogozhina in central Albania.
