No danger for return of visa regime

The German Interior Minister, Thomas Maizere, declared that there is no
danger for having Albania’s visa regime returned, despite the high
number of asylum seekers. He said that only 2% of the asylum requests
from Albania are accepted, and that is not the right path.

“There is no objective reason for asylum in Germany. There is no reason at all to demand it. From all requests that are reviewed, only 2% are accepted. I want to make an appeal to the Albanian citizens to not follow this path, because it is difficult, illegal and there is no chance to stay in Germany through it. The danger for having the visa regime returned to Albania doesn’t exist”, De Maiziere declared.

The French Interior Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, declared that the Albanian government is taking serious steps in the fight against drug traffic, and France will cooperate closely with this fight.

“As regards European and international cooperation, we have decided to cooperate in the fight against drug traffic. We know the efforts of the Albanian government in the fight against the drug traffic. The latest example is the operation in Lazarat. We know the determination of the Albanian government to fight this phenomenon, and we have decided to cooperate and gather all of our forces against it”, Cazeneuve declared.

The Albanian Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, declared that he informed his counterparts that the candidate status is not an euphoria, but an encouragement for continuing with the fight against crime and corruption.

“I guaranteed that the candidate status is no motive for euphoria, but a motive for more responsibility and more encouragement for solid results in the fight against organized crime and corruption. Albania, in the recent report of the US State Department, has been removed from the black list of countries with serious problems in the human traffic. This is another encouragement to work with colleagues, to have results and efficient investigations in the fight against the human traffic and illegal migration”, Tahiri declared.

Both Minister, De Maiziere and Cazeneuve, were invited to Tirana by the Albanian Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri.
