A news report on Top Channel, showing a homeless couple living in a plastic tent under the cold, has put in motion Imam Elvis Naci, singer Sidrit Bejleri nad Ilir Hoxholli, who visited the couple offering them six months of rent and enough food for the winter.
“My house is not very far away from where Suzana and Ruzhdi were living. We had no information. We saw the news report on Top Channel and we learned about this drama. This is the good thing when a strong TV broadcasts such cases. I hope that what we are doing turns into a model for all Albanians”, said Imam Elvis Naci.
Ruzhdi and Suzana Kojku had built a home in 1994, but it was demolished by the project that would connect Shkoza with the Ring Road. After losing the rent bonus, they say that their building was under a legalization process, for which they claim they have made several payments. After six months they may be on the street again. They appeal the local government to include them in the social homes program.
