The Albanian Parliament will hold two consequent sessions this Saturday,
September 9th. The first one, decreed by President Ilir Meta, will be
held at 10:00. This session will be for constituting the new Parliament.
It seems that the procedures were accelerated due to the President’s agenda. His first official visit abroad as President will be held this Monday in Italy. That’s why the Parliament will hold its second session, the one for appointing Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruci, on the same day.
Based on traditional regulation, the first session is opened by the oldest MP on terms of age. This year it is former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
The former Prime Minister may not accept to lead the session, as he did in 2013. The second on the list would be Tritan Shehu, another MP from the Democratic Party, who also may refuse. In that case, next on the list is Socialist Gramoz Ruci.
