The new academic year has started with a boycott of classes in most of the country’s universities, even though not all of them have supported the Union’s decision to protest.
The pedagogues have announced that the protest and boycott of the lesson will continue until their demands are met, as in many faculties the pedagogues have boycotted the lesson.
There was a protest in the majority of universities in Tirna, at “Luigj Gurakuqi” University of Shkodra, “Eqrem Çabej” University of Gjirokastra, “Aleksandër Xhuvani” University of Elbasan, While at the university “Ismail Qemali” in Vlora and “Fan S. Noli” in Korça, classes continued normally.
Through a statement distributed to the media, the Albania’s Union of Universities’ Employees announced the continuation of the protest of the lecturers by staying in the external premises of the faculties from 10:00 am to 12:00.
Also, through a letter addressed to the governing authorities, they request the gathering of the Academic Personnel Assembly. The Union of Employees of the Universities of Albania foresees the need for a fund of 15 million euros to reevaluate about 5000 academics and administrative staff, which would be possible according to them, saving from public tenders.
