NATO reacted very quickly the parliament in Kosovo voted the transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces into a proper national army.
Stoltenberg wrote that the decision was regrettably taken despite the concerns expressed by NATO. “Although this is an internal matter of Kosovo, we have made it clear that it is being done in the wrong time”, Stoltenberg said.
NATO will now be forced to review the engagement level, since their current mandate will be changed.
Stoltenberg appealed the parties to make sure that the decision will not raise tensions in the area.
