The Mat Chief of Criminal Police, Musa Skura, passed away in Italy where
he was being treated for some very severe wounds received during a
police operation on January 13th.

Skura was unable to survive the wounds when his situation deteriorated in the last hours.

On January 13th, the Police blocked the path of two suspects on a motorbike, Fitim Alla and Vilson Milkurti, who opened fire against the police.

The fire fight resulted with Musa Skura and Fitim Alla, one of the suspects, seriously wounded.

The only declaration released so far by the main defendant is that he was drunk when he opened fire. The Court didn’t take in consideration the defending lawyers’ request to send the three other young men involved to another court, and they are staying in prison until trial.

The police operation was undertaken after the authorities received information that someone was smuggling weapons in the area.

Rama: We will win fight against crime

“Crime killed another public servant”, declared the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, about the death of Musa Skura, adding that this crime shows the deterioration of the public order in the country.

Edi Rama expressed the opposition’s concern for the difficult situation with the public order, saying that it is a result of the low police wages, in comparison with the other countries of the region. Rama declared that the Socialist government will win the fight against crime.
