The Laws Commission of the Albanian Parliament started to discuss the new budget on Monday, but it was not possible to discuss the figures face to face.

Deputies of the socialist majority and some DP deputies continued to follow the discussions, after expressing their displeasure with the meeting in extraordinary circumstances due to the chaos in the parliament hall.

“As if a war had broken out. It is neither ethical nor elegant to discuss the budget online, when most of the colleagues are inside the assembly premises. Please don’t take away our right to speak. We will respect the colleagues of the SP and we will have a normal return of our session”, said Sorina Koti of the DP.

“What did you do yesterday? It was not you but your colleagues who blocked the door. You will block the door or normal commissions. You are ready to let the “non-women” take you hostage. This is a problem you have”, stated PM Shalsi, of the socialists in power.

The online meeting continued, while the draft budget was voted in principle by the socialist camp.

The Minister of Finance said at the meeting that the budget for the justice sector has doubled since 2016, while the reform will continue to be supported in the new draft budget, with salary increases and investments.

The budget for the local government has also increased by 10% according to the official, saying that 710 million euros have been allocated.
