The frequent price raise of cigarettes have forced many of them to replace packages with tobacco bags which they will have to roll themselves. But the move has also made 7% of Albanians quit smoking in the past 10 years.
The Ministry of Finances says that for the 2010-2017 period, cigarette import has dropped with 31%, even more than the number of smokers.
Doctors insist keep emphasizing that smoking is a very frequent cause of diseases for Albanian patients.
