The Chief Diplomat of the EU, Federica Mogherini, visited Prishtina one
day after the recommendation for the visa liberalization. In today’s
Parliamentary session, she guaranteed the Kosovo MPs that the EU will
continue to help Kosovo.
“Kosovo is Europe. You don’t need to become Europe. You already are”, said Federica Mogherini, High Representative for the Foreign Policy and Security in the EU.
She also mentioned the work that Kosovo needs to do for implementing the agreement with Serbia.
“There are high expectancies for the creation of the association of Serbian communes. I know there have been strong debates in your society, but the agreement reached after some long negotiations, is solid. The association will not be a parallel governing in Kosovo. It will not surpass the existing laws, and it will be according to the recent decision of the Constitutional Court, which gives instructions to make sure that the status of the Association of Serbian Communes will be based on the laws of Kosovo”, said the Chief Diplomat of the EU, Federica Mogherini.
Accompanied by the Commissioner for Emigration, Dimitris Avramopoulos, the Chief of European Diplomacy was received by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and President Hashim Thaci.
Commissioner Avramopoulos reiterated the promise of Brussels to conclude the visa lift as soon as possible, while he instructed the Kosovo institutions to ratify the Demarcation with Montenegro, and continue the fight against organized crime and corruption.
