The leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration has confirmed in a
press release the invitation made by the Socialist Party.
During his speech, Meta declared that SMI will officially be in opposition and that their priority is to cooperate for Albania’s EU integration.
“The cooperation with DP is over. We will withdraw from all governing functions and will work to realize an agreement with the SP, not only for the victory of June 23rd, but also for the country’s stability and a new EU integration dynamics”, Meta declared.
Meta declared that the fact that the SMI accepted the SP invitation does not mean that they share the same opinions for the past and the present.
He declared that the strong accusations exchanged in the past with the SP leader, Edi Rama, can be commented by others, not them, and that the SMI is a left force that belongs to the Socialist European family.
Meta declared that the current government coalition has fulfilled the main objectives, but the country needs a new political balance.
He thanked Prime Minister Berisha for the stable cooperation in difficult circumstances, and declared that he never has considered the Central Election Commission as a political institution, and that they will work so that CEC will respect the law and the code.
