MEP Fajon: “I hope that France will change its stance about Albania”

Tanja Fajon, the European MP who had an important role for Albania’s visa liberalization, argued that the stance of the French President, (who said that Balkan should be anchored to the EU first), should not be used to replace the region’s accession.
“Sometimes it seems that Macron is not aware of what reconciliation, peace and stability mean for Balkan, and why enlargement has a great significance for Europe”, Fajon said.
France is concerned about the further expansion of the EU, fearing for more fake asylum seekers.
The European MP admits that they keep arriving from Kosovo and Albania, but France is not the only country with great interests on this matter. “I hope that France will change its stance about Albania”, she said at the Sofia summit.
