Medicine prices will increase with 20% this year, due to another tax stamp that will be added to the packages.

“There is a VAT for medicine, a fiscal stamp that will increase the price with 20% more than the current one”, declared Arjan Jaupllari, President of the Pharmacist Order.

He listed all current market problems, starting from the criteria for opening a pharmacy, which, according to him, leaves many rural areas without service, due to the great number of pharmacies opened in the same area. He also been criticized the private universities that give diplomas to unqualified pharmacists.

“The pharmaceutics system has progressed in these five years, not regressed. Now it is going towards the collapse and we appeal for this system to be stopped. The first steps are to remove the concept of negotiation for medicaments’ prices; stopping the exclusion of the Pharmacists’ Order from this Commission; removing the distance and technical criteria for opening a pharmacy; stopping universities from giving undeserved diplomas”, Jaupllari declared.

Jaupllari underlined the concern that many pharmacists who offer their services are in fact veterinarians.
