Although the majority had promised to remove the articles for immunity from the Parliament regulation, they were still present in the second meeting of the Commission of Laws.
“You must prove it with a concrete example that you will not use them for your interests so that you can be safe against criminal prosecution”, said the opposition MP, Enkelejd Alibeaj.
The amends were brought after the Prosecution asked the Parliament to arrest the former MP, Saimir Tahiri. The draft says that before they allow this in the future, the Prosecution must first bring evidence.
The opposition complained that the decisions were not being discussed at the Council of Regulations and Terms, where both parties have an equal number of members. Instead, they are being discussed at the Commission of Laws, where the government has the majority.
