Major opposition protests on “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, thousands of citizens demonstrate against the government

A protest against price increases and other government policies organized by the opposition led by the former Prime Minister of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, started this afternoon on the Boulevard “Dëshmorët e Kombit” in Tirana.

At the beginning of the protest with the motto “Albania in Danger”, the “anthem” dedicated to this rally was -played, while many activists gave their speeches on the podium, to be followed by the political figures. The podium for speeches was set up in the square in front of the prime minister’s office.

The former DP prime minister arrived at the PD headquarters around 19:00, where he held a meeting with the democratic deputies before addressing the gathering on Dëshmorët e Kombit boulevard.

The citizens gathered in the protest, hold banners against the government in their hands, while the chants continued in chorus: “We want Albania like all of Europe”.

The protest started with the singers Renis Gjoka and Big Basta who sang the anthem of the protest “One step forward”.

The head of LSI Monika Kryemadhi joined the protest, staying by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his wife, Liri Berisha. Significant numbers of police officers are on the ground to ensure the smooth progress of the protest, while the prime minister’s building doors, as in similar cases, were “armored” with sheet metal.
