“The Nation’s Road” will be the first segment in Albania that will have
payment tolls. The Ministry of Transportation has chosen the
concessionary company that will maintain and rehabilitate the
Milot-Morina road, a group of companies led by the Turkish “Vendeka
Bilgi”.
Second was “Catalist and Salillari” who offered a smaller bid. A third company called “Iauman Biba” did not file any document.
The winner was declared in cooperation with the IFC, and the government will fund them up to 5-6 million EUR a year if the programmed traffic will not be realized.
The concession lasts 30 years and foresees an average payment of 5 Euros per vehicle. Besides the maintenance, the winning company will also build a new bridge over the Drin River and will complete the unfinished infrastructure from Kukes to Morina.
