Loans for the economy marked an insignificant growth the firs three
months of the year, warning that the activity might remain weak during
all of 2016.
Recent data from the Bank of Albania show that banks have given 547 billion ALL in March, while during December they had given 546.8. When compared to March 2015, loans have dropped with 10 billion ALL or 70 million EUR.
Bank experts say that the dropped loans with such low interest rates show the low desire of businesses and of banks to take risks.
Detailed data show that the drop has started from business loans. The government sees this stagnation as the main danger for withholding the economy.
“The low growth of loans remains a concern for the economy”, says the program. INSTAT says that the economic growth was led by investments, while private consumption remained low.
