The illegal Serbian leaders at the Leposavic commune, in Northern
Kosovo, decided to hold a referendum on February 15th, through which the
Serbs will express their will if they will accept the authority of the
Kosovo institutions or not.

In this meeting were present 16 of the 31 so-called members of the Leposavic Assembly, who voted in favor of the referendum that will also be held in three other communes of Serbian majority.

The illegal leader of the Leposavic commune, Branko Ninic, declared for the Beta news agency that he is against this referendum.

“The communes with Serbian majority have no reason to hold a referendum, when we know that Prishtina’s institutions have not been accepted neither by the Serbian government”, Ninic declared.

“The Serbian Constitution clearly stated that Kosovo is part of the Serbian Republic, hence there is no reason to hold a referendum”, he added.

The Serbian President, Boris Tadic, also opposed such a referendum by saying that everyone knows that the Northern Serbs will never accept the institutions of Kosovo.
