Law for KESH could be postponed

The review of the law that determines the category of clients for
electrical power consumption has spurred many controversies recently,
after business opposed it for financial reasons.

The daily “Shqip” newspaper said this Friday that the subjects, mainly industries, are directly affected by the law, because they will be obliged to supply themselves with energy and will not receive it from the Albanian Energy Corporation (KESH).

“I am sure that the interest groups, regardless their agreement with this law, will have requests for postponing it. But the postponement of this law not only damages KESH, but will also the Albanian consumers. The more the law approval is postponed, the higher will be the energy bills that the Albanians pay”, declared the Minister of Energy, Trade and Economy, Nasip Naco, insinuating that the much awaited solution might not be too near.

With the new law, every energy consumer with a power tension higher than 110 KV will be automatically considered as a qualified client, if the annual consumption is more than 50 million KW.
