The Albanian industry is not progressing with the needed capacity,
proving once again the difficult situation of our business. Regardless
the reports of Bank of Albania and INSTAT, the government controlled
institution that indicate that there is an “economic paradise” in
Albania, the businesses are reporting a critical situation with their
finances, due to the lack of sales.

According to “Shqip” newspaper, the Industrial Confederation says that based on two basic indicators: unsold products and maturated profit; the situation of the industrial production in the country is almost the same with the first 9 months of 2010, which were much lower that 2008 and 2009.

The basic food products, such as flour, meat and dairy goods have been stable and without changes, while other non basic food products, such as non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, conserves etc. have decreased.

All other industrial sectors, directly or indirectly connected with the construction sector, such as the mechanical and metal processing industry, the industries for the production of bricks, tiles, furniture, plastic and paper materials have kept the same pace as in 2010, which was much lower than 2009 and 2008.

The sectors that have seen improvements are those of the heavy industry mainly related with exports, such as electrical power, oil, minerals, steel etc. Improvements have also been seen in the shoe and clothing industries, due to the increased demands by international markets dictated by a significant decreased of the offer from Northern African countries involved in the Arab Spring.
