Koman Lake ‘covered’ in litter, risks becoming a problem for the hydropower plant

Although the presence of timber can be justified by the fact that the whole area is dense with forests, bags, plastic bottles, inert waste and packaging waste are a consequence of the lack of kindness to nature, by residents and tourists in the area.

Gent Marku has been sailing in the waters of Koman for years with his boat transporting tourists, but according to him, the waste situation is deteriorating in recent years with the increase in the number of visitors.

In addition to the negative image, the waste also has a negative impact on the Koman hydropower plant, so the staff of the Albanian Power Corporation undertook an action to clean the lake.

But the cleaning of the lake and its maintenance requires continuous work and the commitment of the municipalities of Shkodra, Vau Deja, Tropoja and Puka, in equipping with the necessary tools and especially raising  the awareness of citizens and tourists on the matter.
