The Albanian Energy Corporation (KESH) reacted after Top Channel’s reported that KESH had sold electricity cheaper than the market price, with a 4 million EUR difference.
KESH say that the report is full of unclear facts and misinformation.
Top Channel compared the electricity price with that of the Hungarian market, which showed that KESH has sold it 15 EUR less per megawatt.
KESH says that the Hungarian stock market taken for reference is not the daily price, that of February 26th, but the average price of March.
The day KESH sold 400,000 MW, the reference price at the stock market was 38.2 Euro per megawatt for the basic profile, and 47.2 EUR for the peak.
Even these prices accepted by KESH itself, are higher than the price they used to sell it. For the basic price, it is 4.1 EUR cheaper, and for the peak price it is 12 EUR.
These are big differences as well, but, according to KESH, they are explained by the energy transmission costs from Albania to Hungary, which is 5 EUR per megawatt.
This declaration from KESH is not accurate if compared to the official bulletin. The energy transmission price for the Albania-Kosovo border, which the European electricity market considers as the Albania-Serbia border, is 0.66 EUR per megawatt.
The transmission cost from Serbia to Hungary is only 0.35 Euro per megawatt.
The transmission cost from Albania to Hungary is only 1 Euro per megawatt, and not 5, as KESH declared.
