While the implementation of the new property law has already started,
the Constitutional Court is expected to review the President’s request
for suspending it.
The Minister of Justice says that the law is the only way to resolve the problem of 26.000 decisions that so far have been only on paper.
Manjani says that the property issue is a matter of political irresponsibility. He insists that if the court will suspend the law, there will be consequences.
“It means that we will have to tell these people to go because we are not allowed to implement the law. We will think how to ‘burn’ the money that were given for compensation. The entire verification activity will be blocked. There are 26.000 decisions that need price evaluation, and nothing will be done”, Manjani said.
While the President insists that the law goes against the Constitution, the Justice Minister says that the former law did nothing, but the current one is realistic. “Not the best, but realistic”, he said.
As for the January 21st events, Manjani appealed courts to answer the public opinion with a final verdict.
