400 kg of marijuana, with a value of 4 million EUR, were seized by the
Guardia di Finanza agents after a spectacular chase in the Otranto
Canal.
Italian news agency “ANSA” reports that after the chase they arrested two Italian citizens, boat owners, both with criminal records for drug traffic.
Investigators suspect that marijuana is bought in Albania. The operation was carried out during the night by the Aeronautic Operative Department of Bari and Taranto, according to sources.
The two boat owners have tried to lose the drug to sea, but it was retrieved by the agents.
