Two significant art objects were placed in two areas of Tirana today:
the statue of Ismail Qemali, the founder of Albania’s independence, and a
double headed eagle monument.

The statue of Ismail Qemali, created by artist Odhise Paskali, was staying at the national Museum of History and today it was placed at the main boulevard. This is the first statue of Ismail Qemali in Tirana.

Present for the occasion was Prime Minister Berisha, the minister of the cabinet, head of communes from several Albanian areas, Mayor Basha and descendants of the Vlora family.

“Ismail Qemali travelled for 27 days to cross wild mountains throughout seven states to arrive at his country. One century was needed so that he could be honoured in Albania’s capital. In this 100th anniversary, we must try and read history and learn it”, Berisha declared.

A few minutes later, a 10 meters tall double headed eagle, the symbol of the Albanian flag, was inaugurated at another square of Tirana. The eagle is made of steel and realized by Albi Cifligu.

The exhibition opened at the National Museum in presence of many personalities.

Prime Minister Berisha, present at the ceremony, valued the exhibition by considering it a gallery of the national pride. Around 210 portraits and other documents were chosen from a 3500 collection.

There are photos of Skanderbeg portraits in different periods of his life, of papa Clement the well known actor, Alexander Moisiu, the well known architect, Karl Gega, Ismail Qemali and Mother Theresa.
