The US, UK and EU embassies in Prishtina have criticized the Kosovo
Judiciary Council for the process they followed to apopint the
Presidents of the Supreme and Appeals Courts.

The Constitutional Court had stated that the Judiciary Council had not foreseen the necessary measures to guarantee transparency and equality.

The embassies of USA and UK say in a joint reaction that their representatives suggested improvements for the Judiciary Council, in order to build public opinion’s trust on the judiciary.

Diplomats say they were disappointed with he decision for a hidden voting. “An open voting would give a strong signal of dedication to transparency, meritocracy and accountability”, the declaration says.

The EU Office says they noted that the appointing of the Presidents did not come after an essential discussion on the eligibility of the candidates for the post.

The Kosovo Judiciary Council said through a press release that they will gather during the first week of September for a more detailed review of declarations issued by international representatives.
