Integration, Topi: Political and institutional cooperation

The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, declared that Albania’s objective is to accelerate the EU integration process.

“We hope to receive the EU candidate status within this year, after fulfilling the necessary criteria, the most important of which is the dialogue for political and institutional cooperation”, the President is quoted of having said in the meeting with the ambassador Karsten Jensen, for the next Presidency of the European Union that will be held by his country, the Kingdom of Denmark.

Ambassador Jensen declared that the EU integration is the main objective of the Albanian foreign policy, which reflects and aims to fulfill the wide aspiration of the Albanian citizens for being part of the European family.

The head of the Albanian State appreciated the role and contribution of Ambassador Jensen, and expressed his trust in the full support of the Danish Presidency for Albania’s EU candidate status.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark, Karsten Ankjaer Jensen, informed Bamir Topi with the Danish priorities for the next EU Presidency, such as the continuity of the enlargement process and the support to Albania and other Western Balkan countries, so that all of them become part of the European family.

The Ambassador wished that Albania could be able to receive and deserve the candidate status and that it would be a good thing if it happened in the 100th anniversary.
